Your treatment will then be sent out for next day delivery.
Seretide is an inhaler available in two forms; an Accuhaler and an Evohaler. Both have the same active ingredients – fluticasone and salmeterol - and work in the same way to prevent asthmatic attacks, however the Evohaler is in the more recognisable format of a compressed canister whilst the Accuhaler is a dry powder. Both Evohalers and Accuhalers are easy to use and are proven preventer asthma treatments
As well as asthma, Seretide 500mcg Accuhaler to aid severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
How to use |
Both are ingested through inhaling and holding your breath for up to 10 seconds. The Evohaler is the traditional inhaler whilst Accuhaler is circular. |
How it works |
Seretide has two active ingredients – fluticasone and salmeterol – that work by expanding the airways and reducing inflammation. |
Effectiveness |
Seretide is a preventer inhaler used twice a day (morning and evening) and is highly effective when used correctly. Seretide is most effective when taken long-term. |
Dosages |
Seretide Evohaler is available in 50mcg, 125mcg and 250mcg. Seretide Accuhaler is available in 100mcg, 250mcg and 500mcg. Your ideal dose will be prescribed by your doctor. |
Side effects |
Side effects are particularly rare with Seretide inhalers but can include headaches, achy joints, sore throat and oral thrush. |
Both the Evohaler and Accuhaler have two active ingredients that work in different ways to help prevent an asthmatic attack from occurring, and should be used daily as instructed. The first active ingredient, fluticasone, is a medicine known as corticosteroid that helps to reduce inflammation in the lungs making breathing much easier. It is a synthetic version of a hormone that your body naturally produces, meaning it mimics the activities your body should be doing. The second active ingredient, salmeterol, is a long-acting beta 2 agonist that relaxes the airways to keep them at their widest. This dual action makes breathing significantly easier throughout the day.
How to use Seretide will depend on whether you have been prescribed an Accuhaler or an Evohaler. The Evohaler is the conventional inhaler that is pressed and inhaled whilst an Accuhaler is circular.
The Seretide Evohaler should be used twice a day (morning and evening). It works like many other inhalers by holding the inhaler upright, giving a shake and breathing in the medicine once sprayed in your mouth. The Evohaler can be sprayed directly into your mouth or by using a spacer if you struggle to ingest the medicine correctly.
The Seretide Accuhaler is also used twice a day and very simply ingested. To use, simply open the inhaler. Keep opening until it clicks. To inhale, exhale as much as you can and place your mouth over the mouthpiece then breathe in deeply through the mouth.
With all inhalers, aim to hold your breath for approximately 10 seconds to allow the medication to circulate through your lungs for maximum effectiveness. If you forget your morning or evening dosage, never take a double dose to compensate.
Evohaler is available in three dosages from OnlineClinic; 50mcg, 125mcg and 250mcg. The Accuhaler is also available in three dosages from OnlineClinic; 100mcg, 250mcg and 500mcg. Depending on your symptoms and past asthma medication, our doctors will advise you what to take.
Seretide side effects are rare, and if they appear, are well tolerable. They include headaches, aching joints, sore throat and oral thrush. If you do experience any of these persistently, or have other severe side effects, it is advised to stop taking the medicine immediately and visit your doctor.
There are some further precautions to be aware of whilst taking both Seretide Evohaler and Seretide Accuhaler. If you have:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must consult your doctor before using Seretide and seek alternative treatment if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Note: Decisions about treatment are for both the prescriber and the person to jointly consider during the consultation. However, the final decision will always be the prescriber’s.
